The training aims to equip tenants and tenant groups with a clear understanding of the different ways in which discrimination can occur and an appreciation of the common barriers to equality for people with protected characteristics in housing.
It will help tenants gain an understanding of housing organisations legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010. The session will also explore and raise awareness of the impact of stereotyping and prejudice in relation to protected characteristics.
The learners will be able to:
🏠 Explain why equality in housing matters
🏠 Recognise housing organisation’s legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010
🏠 Describe who is protected from discrimination and the different ways in which this discrimination can be experienced
🏠 Identify and understand the common barriers faced by people with protected characteristics when accessing and receiving services such as housing. Identify tools and good practice that can be used to overcome these barriers.
🏠 Specify the impact of stereotyping and prejudice in relation to protected characteristics.
